September 2018

Another month, and another season. Now we're into Fall 2018 which means hunting season throughout most of the country.

September is usually one of our busiest months of the year, and as a result we've been out of the office for all but the last few days.

Even so, we have a number of new videos testing ammunition, several with the latest and greatest .223 offerings including the new Mk318 Mod1. See how they compare in our ballistic gel results.

We're just a few days early for a big announcement from SilencerCo on a new suppressor, so stay tuned this week for that.

We also have a big parts drop coming for Gunstruction, so check out the details below.

Anti-gun Senator Distorts the Law and the Facts in Unsuccessful Attack on Supreme Court Nominee

This week the nation was subjected to an embarrassing and undignified spectacle of obstructionist partisan politics surrounding the confirmation hearings of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh for the U.S. Supreme Court. The Democrat caucus, understanding that Judge Kavanaugh is an eminently qualified jurist with an upstanding reputation and that the votes likely exist to confirm him, abandoned the norms of the Senate and of civility and resorted to childish and temperamental theatrics. This included talking out of order and over their colleagues, including Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley; encouraging disruptive and illegal protests in the gallery; and holding up large posters to distract the Judge as he answered committee members’ questions.

Shoddy Science and Shaky Assumptions: Court Invalidates California’s Handgun Ad Ban on First Amendment Grounds

Earlier this month, a federal court invalidated California’s ban on premises advertising relating to handguns (but not other firearms), disparaging the state’s proffered justification for the law as nothing more than “mere speculation and conjecture.”

Gun Control Twist: Saving One Life “Does Not Justify” Right-to-Carry

Gun control advocates often use some version of the phrase “if it saves one life” in order to justify their ineffective proposals. This week, the anti-gun editorial page of the Chicago Sun-Times offered a different take. Fearful that the Right-to-Carry was getting too much good publicity in the wake of an Illinois concealed carry permit holder’s heroic actions, the Sun-Times editorial board felt it necessary to lecture its readers, “One brave rescue of a Cicero cop doesn’t justify concealed guns.”

Bloomberg Presidential Run? Maybe. Bloomberg Effort to Buy the Midterms? Definitely.

Billionaire gun control financier and former-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is once again floating a presidential run.

According to a September 17 report from the New York Times, the would-be oligarch is interested in seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2020. Though Bloomberg has previously run for political office as a Republican and an independent, the political opportunist told the Times, “It’s impossible to conceive that I could run as a Republican — things like choice, so many of the issues, I’m just way away from where the Republican Party is today.” He added, “That’s not to say I’m with the Democratic Party on everything, but I don’t see how you could possibly run as a Republican. So if you ran, yeah, you’d have to run as a Democrat.”

New Industry Statistics Underscore Popularity of “America’s Rifle”

Senator Dianne Feinstein has spent the last 26 years pushing gun control at the federal level and earlier this month demonstrated her willingness to distort facts and Supreme Court precedent in her ongoing effort to restrict your Second Amendment rights. During a confirmation hearing for President Trump’s latest Supreme Court nominee, Feinstein ludicrously claimed that semiautomatic rifles like the AR-15 – long heralded as “America’s Rifle” – are not “in common use.”

Outrageous! NC University Forces Student to Remove NRA Flag from Dorm Window

In another case of anti-gun bullying, officials at Elon University in North Carolina are reported to have forced a college freshman to remove an NRA banner from his dorm room window.

Elon’s student news channel, ENN, first reported the story. According to ENN, the student, who asked to remain anonymous, had placed a bright red NRA banner out of their dorm room window where it was widely seen and commented on by students.
